My name is Ahmed Mahfouz. I’m an ex AI developer in VOIAR (Dutch robots company), and currently I work in CareWeb. I’m someone who goes for groceries biweekly. When I run out of something, I would pull up my phone, enter Google Keep (or Apple notes), and add the item in it. I don’t like spending that much time in the supermarket. It took me some time to know which aisle is what. 10 min in, and I’m done picking all that I need.
One important part about the 10-min “grocery shopping spree” is me not trying to remember what I need. I just look into my Google Keep and buy it. But Google Keep isn’t made for groceries.
I did try to search for other apps that would fill my requirements but couldn’t find any. I did search my #1 trust-me-bro source, Reddit, and I found people who were having the same problem I have. There were some apps either with old designs or they had lots of features.
I took it personally from there and decided to make my own “DUMP GROCERY APP”

I did this app because I wanted to solve a problem I had (cliche, I know) and also to practice my mobile skills. Dealing with list state (I’m using Legend-state) was a little bit hard. They released V3 when i picked the library up, which made troubleshooting a little hard.
It was also my first time working with Supabase, using buckets, and webhooks in it. Usually I would host everything on my local server and my apps would interact with it.
